Sometimes we need a break from the beautiful chaos of the Eternal City, or we just want to wind down from a long, active day. What we seek are a few quiet minutes in a perfect little place. Here are two that we head to, both just minutes from the apartment, one literally around the corner.
The first spot is around the block, in Palazzo Talia — a historic building recently turned into a hip and swanky hotel. There’s a gorgeous bar inside.

But we also like the lovely little courtyard. All these spaces are part of Bar della Musa.

We come here for their Oyster Happy Hour — a cocktail or glass of prosecco, and some wonderful oysters. Even with the occasional DJ playing, this courtyard bar provides a peaceful moment.

The second perfect little place is at the historic Hassler hotel, where you will find Carmen’s Bar in a cozy hidden room at the back of the Salone Eva lounge. If the piano is playing in the lounge, it’s an elegant riff wafting from a distance. The space and the moment are elegant and perfectly calm.

So, when you need a respite from the bustling activity of Rome, you’ll have no trouble finding one nearby in a perfect little place.
