A Day’s Worth of Street Art

We are always pleasantly surprised by Rome’s wonderful street art. Here is a sampling of the street art we recently saw on one single, lovely day in the Ostiense quarter, on our way to a favorite museum, the Centrale Montemartini (more on that on a future post). Some are paintings, or stencils, but many are “stickers,” which will fade away with time.

My favorite, a close-up of which is at the top of this post

A colorful Sid Vicious …

A colorful Willen DaFoe (who has a home in Rome, by the way — clearly a man with good taste!)

The Blues Brothers, with lipstick

The King, looking good

“Save the King,” but I don’t think they mean Elvis

And, another heart

A cool cat, perhaps the Pyramid of Cestius in the background?

A different kind of cat

Reminds me of Banksy

An homage to Matisse’s The Dance

A figure in the Gasometro, part of Rome’s modern skyline

And, a creepier one, also with the Gasometro

A weird mushroom — but if you look closely, it is made out of bananas

Very… cactusy
